Zara Maritime (Zara Maritime Ship Surveyors FZC LLC) provides services to protect reputations and generate business value for all our clients, stakeholders and the shareholders.

The various company policies reflect the commitment of the company to prudent and ethical behaviour towards people, environment and business.

All decisions and actions must be justifiable and be able to withstand scrutiny.

Work Culture

All recommendations and suggestions provided to the clients or their representatives onboard for their review and decision to implement, take into consideration the safety of people, the client's asset, the environment and the cargo, to ensure business continuity for the client and protection of both the companies' reputations.

All projects undertaken are time and budget constrained. The clients are kept abreast of any deviations and variations in scope, schedule or budget. Any modifications / extra requirements advised by the client are complied with only after client approves the cost and time escalations.

Media Policy

All media calls and contact must be politely guided to contact the company's MD or his assigned representative. Employees and associates must not express opinions or give perceived data or details on their own.

Communication Policy

Every individuals' actions and responses to the client must reflect transparency and professionalism. The confidentiality of information within the company and with the clients are to be respected.

Verbal and written communication must be handled with prudence and are meant to convey actual deliverables only.

Personal opinions and beliefs must not be expressed while representing the company at official and social functions, nor on any social media.

Health and Safety Policy

Employees must remember that at no point can the client or employer force an employee to put his life or health at risk. If appropriate safety procedures or protective equipment and gear are not available, or if at any point it is observed that an operation or inspection is developing risks which may affect the personnel, vessel, environment or reputation of the employer / client, the task must be suspended immediately until the risk is mitigated to acceptable levels.

Fatigue and ill health may also cause unacceptable risk. It is up to the employees themselves to remain alert and report to the relevant person with the authority, to either provide additional resources, or resume the task only after personnel are rested or healed.

Human Resources and Training Policy

Personnel ARE the Company. What employees say and do creates the image of the company.

All employees, whether on-board or ashore are stakeholders, being benefited or affected by the industry's perception of our company, this knowledge itself motivates us to perform to our best abilities and professionalism.

It is emphasized once again, "All decisions and actions must be justifiable, fair and able to withstand scrutiny."

When a requirement is identified, the company invests in training the employee by allocating time, assigning relevant in-house resources or ensuring attendance at suitably identified courses.

Environment and Social Responsibility Policy

The company loves and respects the environment that it operates in and encourages all its employees, shore and ship based, to nourish practices that protect the environment, whether it is related to water, land, air or the sea bed.

The company has a zero-tolerance policy to intentional damage to the marine or air environment. Management will fully cooperate with authorities for any investigations related to environmental damage and has the authority to dismiss and report those who cause willful damage.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

The company has a zero-tolerance policy to banned drugs amongst any of its employees, in their personal and professional lives. Management will fully cooperate with authorities for any investigations related to drug use or carriage by its employees. The company has the right to summarily dismiss the employee while such investigations are in progress. Employees will have to arrange for their own legal representation and expenses for such investigations / misdemeanours.

Alcohol consumed during off-duty hours, which does not affect or impair on-duty performance, is not regulated by the company.

Management has the overall right to take punitive action against employees found endangering lives by driving or performing duty with alcohol above 0.04% BAC, ashore or aboard vessels.

If the client's D&A policies are more stringent than the company D&A policy, employees of Zara Maritime will adhere to the client's requirements.

Work Performance

On board, Master / OIM of the unit shall remain the final authority for all matters of safety and security. At no point shall personnel do anything to contravene his direct instructions and shall follow Master's / OIM's orders for any ship's contingencies, including abandoning of vessel.

On land based site, client's appointed safety officer shall be the final authority for all matters of safety and security.

Our personnel recognize that the client's personnel are all experienced professionals.

While on board a ship or client's site, our personnel shall exercise command and authority, give clear and concise instructions to:

1) Calm the anxiety felt by ship's staff during crisis

2) Instill confidence and a sense of security

3) Achieve fastest results for the assigned scope
